Shambozia: the World of Technological Self Sufficiency. (Part 1)

Life in 2020 with regards to privacy, information assurance and information accountability.

Author: Veronica DixonHaase

Planet Shembozia over the last five years had to face a lot of challenges as the government now run by private enterprise took over all functions of daily living as we once knew it.  Technology had grown in leaps and bounds and had won the race against privacy.

The beings on planet Shembozia no longer felt safe but threatened because information, especially personal information was out there floating around in clouds and was available to anyone who desired it.

Technology had increased everywhere; in the homes in the schools in businesses, in the environment and this trend continued to grow in leaps and bounds.

Shambozia, once named earth was a world cantered around technology and gadgets. Everything was linked to a technological invention and intervention.  In the year 2020 the inhabitants of Shambozia experienced a life of ease and prosperity all they had to do was to dream, imagine and create. Every passion was something smart. There were smart houses, smart cars, smart roads, and smart TV and smart phones, just to name a few. Everything was networked and linked to make life run smoothly and without much trivial things to think about.

The smart houses and buildings were built to enhance life. The walls were made of zillions of bits that responded to the body structure of the individuals who occupied these spaces. The houses knew all the people who lived there. It picked up on all their emotions and automatically determines what their needs are. Most rooms in the house were built with mirrors that would capture all your moods, feelings and attitude through the many bits built within. And through this data collection process it would be able to determine and produce what you needed for the entire day.

Waking up this morning Shazam young, bright, intelligent Shambozian was not worried about what she would eat or what to wear. Her suit would be automatically selected by the ‘Burlapz’ a technology she invented that would determine what dress is the perfect wear for the moment. She did not have to worry about closet space nor clothes as each was designed on spot each morning. As she peered in the mirror there were sensitive bits that summed up her moods and feelings. These messages were sent to the ‘Burlapz’ and it determined the colour and style that would enhance your moods and feeling. It then searches in the online catalogue for the dress. If one could not be found, a new dress was immediately designed and created. This would be produced in three dimensional prints, another technology that was designed and is able to print whatever you programmed. The dress would be ready to wear by the time you came out of the shower, had breakfast and brushed your teeth.

As Shazam scratched her head, she headed towards the kitchen; she had great concerns right now as there had been a breech in the cloud network server. This server was literally kept on a cloud located in the zorbit of Mars. This sever was placed there ions of years ago and programmed to be self-contained. It is able to store zerabytes of data and programmed to delete what is obsolete and what is of no relevance to the system. It is also able to upload all new programmes ensuring they are secure and adaptable to life on Shambozia. This was where all data from the entire planet of Shambozia was stored.

“The server is extremely secured”, Shazam said, as she fetched the hot steaming chocalate drink from the “Java”, another simple home technology that worked in the network and provided the ideal beverage you consciously or subconsciously desired. Whether it is coffee, herbal tea, hot chocolate or a cold drink, it was available. The smart kitchen was programmed to produce. Security breaches, hacking and blackmailing belonged to a generation that had long gone. All Shambozians cared about, or even focused on, was creating the next technology that would be synced into the Shambozian world, making that world more efficient. This was the zenith of the technological era. Every aspect of existence was centred on being creative and being productive. It’s like breathing air, to create was the seventh sense of all Shambozians.  So much technology had emerged and synced into the network without any mishap or mayhem that it would be hard to figure how to deal with a breach of any kind.

The cloud network sever ensured that privacy is maintained. It was no use trying neither to duplicate somebody’s invention nor to sabotage anybody’s work. The sever blocked and “ate” all hacking programs, all virus that can ever be sent and treats it as garbage. It is never able to reach the main frame where all pertinent data was kept for the efficient operation of all these technology. Cross site Scripting (XSS), Cross site request forgery (CSRF), Phishing, Information Leakage and all the negativities regarding privacy and information assurance and accountability was a thing of the past.

So as Shazam proceeded to sit and drink her cup of hot chocalate. The invisible chair automatically popped up right underneath her. Her husband Mazal, who was already up, came into the room with the tablet newspaper making a disturbing comment.

“Five year old creates a new virus that can infiltrate all software and technology in Shambozia; He will test his technology at 8:00 am today February 1, 2020.” He sat beside Shazam looking deeply in the tablet as if he was expecting something to pop out.

“What, a five year old!” exclaimed Shazam. “This is not happening.”

“Somebody has finally done it!” continued Mazal.

But before he could utter another word, all the phones were ringing all at once, the smart TV was switching from one channel to the next, and the java was pouring coffee and tea and chocalate all at once. Suddenly Shazam was sprawled flat on her derriere on the floor with her chocalate all over her, the chair had totally disappeared. Mazal was in awe as the Newspaper tablet and his robe disappeared.

Seems like every technology in the house and around it had gone haywire. Was the system hacked? Was security breached?

Planet Shembozia was now facing a lot of challenges as the government now run by private enterprise took over all functions of daily living.
